Welcome to the new home of the Young Democrats of Cobb County! Be sure to check for updates! |
April Happy Hour and Business Meeting
The Cobb County Young Democrats have started up again! They are having monthly Happy Hours on the first Fridays of every month and monthly Business Meetings on the third Tuesdays of every month. Both are great opportunities to meet fellow Cobb County Young Democrats and learn about the 2008 heated races taking place in Cobb County. April Happy Hour |

We're still here!
Yeah, you can tell by the updates that it's a little slow these days, but to quote Life of Brian... "We're not dead yet!" We are going to go back to having regular meetings, and we're also going to try some monthly trivia nights. Look for us, we're around! |

DPG candidates come to Cobb County, make it on video
All four candidates for Chair, two candidates for First Vice Chair, and a few others showed up at the monthly Cobb Democratic Breakfast. This was the first chance most people had had to meet these people (well, most people who don't read the blogs, at least) and we had a great start in our new breakfast venue. Georgia will be in good hands with any of these people running the show - which is good for everyone except the purveyors of rotten vegetables ;-) |

Thinking Left about the DPG convention
- Andre, that was probably the least relevant credentials report ever given, but I have to give it to you - not only was it not a bad speech, it was better than what we got from some people who are running for things.
- I hope Denise Majette was listening to Tommy Irvin's speech about knowing what office you're running for.
- Quick bucks idea: "I'm an Unsung Hero of the Georgia Democratic Party and All I Got Was a Resolution and This Lousy T-Shirt"
- I don't know whether Lester Maddox "deserves the praise and thanks of each and every Democrat and citizen in Georgia", but he sure didn't get it from the convention delegates.
- Was it me or have there been several significant deaths in the family? Sad.
- Could someone tell me what the difference between the Democratic Women's Council and the Georgia Federation of Democratic Women is again?
- Calvin Smyre, no more group "Happy Birthday" singalongs, unless of course I'm one of the recipients of $100.
- Jim Martin scored huge with that candy he passed out, not least because free candy is a lot cheaper than $5 for a cheeseburger.
- "Sonny hasn't done it. Sonny won't do it. But I will." Fewer bullet points next time, Mark Taylor. Please.
- My new favorite button is the "Snakes on a Plane" button, and it's even union made. The eagle/flag/Democrats T-shirt looked great too. Thank you, Tigereye Design.
- Next year I'm going canvassing instead. Or bringing my own coffee.

Republican joke in Cobb wearing thin
Republicans have controlled Cobb for years, but their familiar antics and farcical capering just aren't getting the laughs like they used to. Not all our neighbors are stupid, and it so happens that you can only bamboozle people with political smoke and mirrors (and get away with so many outright lies and broken promises) before they see that Oz is really just a pathetic bungler, yanking levers and smashing buttons in a vain attempt to make the political slot machine pay off for the voters.
